Ski
Resorts (Entry from Justin) Skiers and snowboarders have the same two goals when it comes to dressing for a day on the mountain - (1) controlling temperature and (2) staying dry. The key to regulating temperature is to layer the clothing. For example, for upper body I wear thermal underwear, a fleece middle layer, and finally a jacket. If it's cold, then I wear all three. If it's warm, then I might skip the fleece or even just keep the thermals on. The temp can change from base to summit and throughout the day. For bottoms I wear thermal underwear and my snowboard pants, which brings us to the second goal. Staying dry involves avoiding cotton and having a waterproof outer layer. This is especially relevant for snowboarders who spend more time sitting in the snow than skiers. In fact, on a warm day a skier can easily get away with wearing jeans. However, a snowboarder will likely have a soggy bottom by lunch time from all the sitting. Snowboard and ski pants and jackets are waterproof and windproof. However, since we're only going for a day, don't have far to drive, and the mountain is not huge, pretty much anything goes. The temperature change from the base to summit won't be large, and a person could change their clothes if they're uncomfortable. I say this, since it doesn't make sense to buy gear for a single day. I highly recommend bringing gloves - any pair that keep your hands warms. I winter cap is also nice on cold days. Goggles help when it's snowing or windy but not required. justin |

Music for main cabin - Justin CD System for main cabin - Susan Dress is casual. Bride's father is wearing a Hawaiian print shirt that (he thinks) matches her dress. But he isn't allowed to wear his fuzzy slippers. Everyone bring cameras as we don't have a photographer. I have eight decent disposable cameras to give out as necessary. Judy has someone videotaping the event. |
